Pounds gets 100th IMCA feature win

  BY STEPHEN LYNCH Special to The Californian   Brad Pounds doesn’t win every IMCA Modified race at Bakersfield Speedway. It only seems that way. Pounds, nicknamed “The Dominator” collected his 100th career feature win in a IMCA Modified on Saturday night. “It’s something to be proud of, that’s for sure,” Pounds said. “I”m pretty pumped right now. 5 Divisions Return to Action May 10th

5 divisions are set to return to action this Saturday night May 10th. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Street Stocks, Mini Stocks and The CA Lightning Sprints all hit the 1/3 Mile high banked clay oval this weekend. Gates open at 4:00pm  with Racing at 6:00pm sharp. General admission $12.00   Seniors & Military $10.00   Kids 6-12 $5.00   5 and under FREE.

Johnson Repeats in Hobby Stocks at Speedway

Shepherd grabs another mini stock victory

  BY STEVEN LYNCH Special to The Californian   Doug Shepherd passed Tina Bell with eight laps remaining to win the Mini Stock feature. Bell held on to take second. Gary Spiller was third followed by Steve Roark and Joe Humphrey. That race featured four leaders and three lead changes. Henry earns trip to victory lane

  Ira Henry outdueled Kris Kornder to win the 20-lap Mod Lite main event. Henry passed Kornder for the lead on lap 10 and held off a late challenge by Kornder to get the win. Kornder led the first nine laps. Dave Dotson was third followed by Mike Gilmore and Roy Maynard Jr.

Michael Johnson get first SportMod win

  BY STEVEN LYNCH Special to The Californian   Michael Johnson of Bakersfield dominated the 25-lap IMCA Sports Mod main event, leading from start to finish. His two biggest challenges, other than fending off second-place Levi Kiefer, were keeping the field behind him on five restarts and maneuvering safely around lapped cars during the race’s early long green flag run.
