Johnson grabs Hobby Stock victory

Holding onto to first place proved to be much more difficult, but the Bakersfield driver was up to the challenge.   Johnson took advantage of late race engine problems by 80-year old Ralph Cook to inherit the lead during a Lap 16 restart then fought off Kevin Collier to pickup his third feature win of the year.   Collier finished second. Daves dominates in IMCA Modifieds race

Hurt wins inaugural IMCA Stock Car main

  BY STEPHEN LYNCH Special to The Californian   Ron Hurt of Hanford took advantage of an early bobble by Chris Mancebo to win the inaugural IMCA Stock Car A-main event at Bakersfield Speedway on Saturday night.   Mancebo led the first three laps before getting loose in the fourth turn on Lap 4, allowing Hurt to move out in front of the field.
