Ronald McDonald House big winner at Speedway

                        By Mike Griffith BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN – There was already a big winner at Bakersfield Speedway before the first engine was fired for the first main event. The winner was the Bakersfield Ronald McDonald House, as $24,356 was raised in the third annual Racing for Ronald event at the third-mile clay oval. Drake wins late model feature on his birthday

                          Steve Drake celebrated his 48th birthday in style Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway. The San Luis Obispo driver out-dueled Rob Sanders of Bakersfield to win the 30-lap Late Model feature on the high-banked, third-mile clay oval. Drake chased Sanders from the runner-up position for more than half the race before sliding inside and past his younger counterpart on Lap 18.
