30TH RUNNING OF THE BUDWEISER NATIONALS THIS WEEKEND
A historic 70th season of competition at Bakersfield Speedway is quickly coming to a close, and with that, the anticipation is building towards the 30th Budwesier Nationals on October 9th and 10th. The premier stock car open show on the West Coast welcomes over 200 teams to compete on the fastest one-third mile dirt oval.
Bobby Hogge IV will attempt to duplicate his incredible sweep of both the Late Models and IMCA Modifieds from the 2014 edition. Hogge won the Friday and Saturday features for both classes in a huge $10,000 weekend of work for the Salinas, CA driver.
The Bud Nationals has grown to be not only the premier open show in California but perhaps one of the best in the nation. Drivers compete for more than $60,000 in prize money over the course of the two days. Divisions in action include Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, Western Pro Stocks, Hobby Stocks, and American Stocks. The Late Models and IMCA Modifieds will run complete shows each night which makes the Friday night portion of the Nationals one of the best values in motorsports. Friday tickets are just $13 for adults, $11 for seniors/military, kids 6-12 are $6, and kids 5 and under are FREE.
After a strong night of preliminary action on Friday night, all six divisions will stage features on Saturday night. Adult tickets are $18, seniors/military at $16, kids 6-12 are $8, and kids 5 and under are FREE.
Late Model action will pay $2000 to win Friday and $3000 to win Saturday while the IMCA Modifieds race for $1500 to win each night. The SportMod feature on Saturday will be a $1500 affair as well with Western Pro Stocks dueling for $1200, American Stocks for $1200, and Hobby Stocks for $600.
Tina Pounds will not be in action to try and defend her SportMod victory from last year while Brady Bell will have to contend with a rejuvenated Western Pro Stock field in 2015. Don Mead and Kevin Collier were the American Stock and Hobby Stock winners last year.
Grandstand gates swing open at 4 p.m. with racing at 5 p.m. on both days October 9th and October 10th. Camping and parking is plentiful on site and is free of charge. Entry Forms for the Budweiser Nationals are available now at www.bakersfieldspeedway.com
