HOGGE MAKES IT 3 FOR 3 WITH SATURDAYS MAIN EVENT WIN

The first heat wave hit Bakersfield Saturday and the weather wasn’t the only hot thing going on in town. 22 Mid Cal Fabrication IMCA Modifieds checked in at the Bakersfield Speedway to do battle on the 1/3 mile clay oval for some hot summer night racing. Robert Sanders took an early control of the field as the 21 others had there work cut out contending with the smooth slick track. Bobby Hogge III of Salinas, CA started deep in the field but put on a masterful display of driving as he slowly picked his way through the field. In the end Hogge captured his third main event win of the year followed by Sanders, Cody Laney, Josh Vogt and Troy Foulgers.

A strong field of 25 H&S Body Works Hobby Stock cars produced another great battle for the winners check Saturday night. Matt Wankum lead the field to the green flag and stayed there to be the first to see the checkers and capture his first main event win of the year. Brent Hosfeldt crossed in second followed by Karl Noland Sr, Robert Lawler and Mike Hill Jr rounding out the top 5.

13 Melo’s Gas & Gear American Stocks checked in for the night of dirt track action. Dakota Brown of Bakersfield had a strong outing Saturday night showing the way around the 1/3 mile clay oval to win the 20 lap feature. Cody Johnson finished second followed by Traci Childress, Wade Eurto and Mark Irwin.

The cars of yesteryear were back for there second appearance at the Bakersfield Speedway. 13 Okie Bowl Hard Tops had a tuff main event as a few cars got into trouble and didn’t see the end of the race. James Bradburn was the eventual winner of the 20 lap race followed by Matt McCaslin, Rich Souza and Ethan Snow.

Bakersfield Speedway kicks off a popular month of racing this Saturday night with a special night raising money for LLS. Raffle tickets will be availible to win a ride in the two seater late model with John Lowery. IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Mini Stocks will also be in action Saturday.
