Opening Night 2015 This Saturday March 7th
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (March 3, 2015) – The highly anticipated 70th season for Bakersfield Speedway begins in earnest this Saturday night with the prestigious West Coast Late Models! JACK FM Night at the Races will present a full card of action to officially bring in the season at the IMCA-sanctioned one-third mile clay oval. North Chester Ave will be alive with Sport Mods, Hobby Stocks, American Stocks, and Mini Stocks scheduled!
The West Coast Late Models are the fastest stock cars to hit the track each year and are a must-see show. The cars and stars will first hit Las Vegas Bullring on Wednesday night, before coming over to the valley for Saturday’s $2000 to win, $400 to start feature. This is one of only two appearances by the West Coast Late Model Shootout so make plans now to be there! This is also the first of seven overall appearances by Late Models at Bakersfield this year.
2014 champion Steve Drake will be in action in his #11x hoping to fend off the West Coast’s best including 2014 Bakersfield race winner Bobby Hogge IV. The series brings in teams from throughout the Western United States including drivers from both the Northwest and the Southwest!
Motor City GMC presents IMCA Sport Mods this year and it continues to be one of the fastest growing divisions in all of grassroots motorsports. H&S Body Works Hobby Stocks and Melo’s Gas & Gear American Stocks bring traditional stock car excitement all year long while DC’s RV Center Mini Stocks return for another season of great four banger racing!
The gates will swing open at 4 p.m. with racing to get underway at 6 p.m. General admission for adults is $16, Seniors and Military $14, Kids 6-12 $6, and kids 5 and under are FREE. Camping is available and parking is always FREE.
