INAUGURAL THANKSGIVING THUNDER THIS WEEKEND AT BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (November 24, 2014) – This Friday and Saturday Bakersfield Speedway will conclude its 69th season of action with the inaugural Thanksgiving Thunder.  The event relocated to the west’s fastest one-third mile clay oval and will welcome teams from all over the West Coast.  Thanksgiving Thunder will put on a cap on dirt track racing in California for 2014 in a big way!

Modifieds, Sport Modifieds, and Hobby Stocks will run features on both days, while Mini Stocks and American Stocks will run Friday only with Super Street Stocks, Dwarf Cars, and Mini Dwarfs running Saturday only.  Both days of action will be complete twilight shows with grandstands opening at 2 p.m. and racing at 3 p.m.  Nearly every Bakersfield Speedway track champion will be on hand to defend their home turf against a strong entry list of drivers from across the west.

The headline Modified competition will pay $1500 to win Friday and $2000 to win Saturday, and will give track champion Kyle Heckman and division runner-up Brad Pounds another shot at victory.  Pounds finished second in both nights of the Budweiser Nationals and will try to be one spot better this weekend.  Heckman is fresh off of winning the big “Day After the Duel” in Pahrump, NV.

The Thanksgiving Thunder Sport Mod fields will feature most of the recent Bakersfield Speedway race winners and champions including 2014 Budweiser Nationals winner Tina McGowan, 2014 track champ Lee Jensen, and 2013 track champ John Piker.

In a change from Budweiser Nationals, Thanksgiving Thunder will give both the Dwarf Cars and Mini Dwarfs a chance to race on the big stage.  Saturday’s Dwarf Car race is a rare appearance for the division in Bakersfield and these motorcycle engine powered cars compete at speeds comparable to TQ Midgets.

Friday night’s card with five main events will be priced at $12 for Adults, $10 for Seniors and Military, $6 for children ages 6-12, and kids 5 and under are free!  Saturday’s seven main event show will be $16 for Adults, $14 for Seniors and Military, $8 for Kids 6-12, and 5 and under free.  Camping and Parking are free as well!

Bakersfield Speedway thanks its major marketing partners: Budweiser, Monster Energy, Coke, Motor City GMC, DC’s RV Center, Melo’s Gas & Gear, H&S Body Works, and Mid Cal Fabrication.
