Heckman wins Main Event and 2014 Championship

 

After a full season of racing, the Mini Stock championship at Bakersfield Speedway came down to to the difference of one position.

 

Tina Bell finished second on Saturday night on the third-mile clay oval to win the championship by two points.

 

Zach Boitnot won the feature with Gary Spiller second and Bell third.

 

Bell came into the race with a four-point lead over Spiller. There is a difference of two points for each finishing position.

 

Bell finished the season with two wins and 14 top fives. Spiller had three wins and 13 top fives.

 

The largest field of USAC Midgets in several years — 20 — turned out for the 100th appearance of the series at the track with Trey Marcham coming away with the win in the 30-lap feature.

 

Marcham also won the May 3 race at the track.

 

Ronnie Gardner was second and Sean Dodenhoff third.

 

The Ignite Midget feature was won by Cory Elliott with Wally Pankratz second and Cody Jessup third.

 

Mark McCaslin drove to victory in the Hard Top race, followed by Steve Sorensen and Bobby Courtney.

 

Steve Wenzel won the IMCA Stock Car feature. Troy Patee was second and Ron Hurt third.
