FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS UP NEXT AT BAKERSFIELD SPEEDWAY WITH FREE KIDS ADMISSION
BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (April 16, 2025) – Bakersfield’s youngest racing fans are invited to check out the all-new Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway for Friday Night Lights this Friday, with all kids and students 18 and under admitted for free. Race fans will be treated to a six-division cavalcade of championship racing with the IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars, H&S Body Works Hobby Stocks, American Stocks, and So-Cal Dwarf Cars competing. Bakersfield Speedway at Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway is a one-third mile dirt track located at Enos LN & I-5 in Bakersfield.
General Admission tickets are on sale now at www.BakersfieldSpeedway.com. Adult general admission tickets are $18 and Parking is free of charge. Grandstands open at 4pm with opening ceremonies and heat races at 6pm. The full slate of main events begins at approx. 8pm. Tickets will also be available at the gate.
Friday’s races serve as the third points races for the IMCA divisions, where 77 different drivers have competed across the three classes in 2025. 2024 IMCA Modified champion Gavyn Manning of Bakersfield has used a pair of runner-up finishes to lead the standings, followed by round two winner Jake Pike, multi-time champion Brad Pounds, Bryan Clark, and opening night winner Robby Sawyer. 30-laps for a $750 prize is on tap this Friday for the Modifieds.
Bakersfield’s Tyler Bannister is off to a strong start in the IMCA Sport Modifieds with a two-for-two start to the season. His father and 2024 champion Jason Bannister runs second in the standings, followed by Tate Loftis, Cale Kanke, and Paul Brown. Sport Mods race in a 25-lap feature for a $600 prize.
Austin VanHoff of Chowchilla and Steven Johnson of Bakersfield have split the Stock Car wins and are tied in the championship heading into Friday’s 20-lap feature. Nicholas Johnson has three wins this year – two in the American Stocks and one in the H&S Body Works Hobby Stocks, to lead both championships. Each division has a 20-lap feature on Friday night.
San Diego’s Darren Brown won a thrilling appearance from the So-Cal Dwarf Cars on March 29th and they return on Friday for a 25-lap main event.
