BY STEPHEN LYNCH Special to The Californian Lee Jensen’s biggest challenge wasn’t finding enough speed to win the Super Street feature Saturday night at Bakersfield Speedway. It was trying to hold off the cars chasing him as he spent much of the 25-lap race weaving through and around lapped traffic. This weekend’s Mini dwarf heats will start at 4:30pm to help with the busy night of activities planned. The mini dwarf drivers will be doing a pass the helmet for donations for Make-A-Wish, and doing the early start again will help free the kids up later in the night for this.
Drivers at Bakersfield Speedway will be “Racing For Wishes” to raise money to grant wishes for sick kids in Kern County. Drivers have spent the past few months gathering items to be raffled for the charity and they are planning on raising a significant amount of the funds from a “pass the helmet” event to be held during the races that will bring the drivers into the stands to personally collect donations from the fans.
